The Role

Join Freedom Internet’s engineering team and help design, build, and operate a network we are proud of. As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in scaling and optimising our infrastructure to deliver world-class connectivity to our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintance of Software Systems that support the Freedom Network including:
  • AWS, Rancher, Bitbucket, Python
• Designing, configuring, and supporting core and edge routing platforms (MikroTik and others)

• Working with OSPF, BGP and MPLS across our national backbone
• Maintain and deploy further virtualised BNG
• Managing cloud infrastructure and container platforms (AWS, Rancher)
• Diagnosing and resolving complex network issues
• Contributing to network architecture, security, and capacity planning
• Participating in the on-call roster to support critical services
  

About You

The successful applicant for this role is passionate about networks, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys solving challenging problems. They’ll also bring:

• Solid experience with IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and MPLS
• Experience with BNGs and service provider environments
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes)
• Scripting or programming experience (Python preferred)
• Experience with MikroTik routers or willingness to master them
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and documentation ability
